Whether you use a bowl-lift or tilt-head stand mixer will determine how you hold the bowl. Whichever bowl you use, be it glass, stainless steel or ceramic, the technique is the same.

TILTING HEAD MIXERS
KitchenAid® stand mixers have a lift-and-lower head to make putting the bowl in and taking it out easily. For this type of mixer, the bowl is attached to a metal plate at the bottom of the mixer.

Be sure to add your ingredients in the correct order, with many recipes; this step is crucial for success. You may need to add some ingredients after the mixing process has started, depending on the recipe. If necessary, stir slowly to avoid mess and make sure the mixture is even.

STEP 5: TURN ON THE MIXER AND SELECT THE CORRECT SPEED

KitchenAid® Stand Mixers offer 10 different speeds to help you get the best results for your recipe. Combining the right accessory with the right speed allows you to create everything from homemade whipped cream to expertly kneaded bread.

  1. Lower the head of your tilt-head mixer and slide the lock lever to the locked position or raise your mixer bowl using its lever.
  2. NOTE: The motor head should always be kept in the LOCK position when using the mixer. Start by sliding the mixer speed lever to the first position, which is "on."
  3. Slowly adjust the speed lever until you reach the correct speed for your task, based on your recipe.

Choosing the right speed for each task is important. A faster speed does not mean that your dish will be ready sooner. In fact, each KitchenAid® mixer speed helps achieve a specific result, depending on the recipe and content.

WHAT IS THE BEST SPEED FOR THE MIXER?

  • The lower speeds (1-2) are designed for gentle stirring and mixing. The slowest speed is suitable for adding ingredients such as flour and milk, and the second speed is suitable for making a thin, drizzled dough or preparing mashed potatoes. This is also the speed for kneading the dough with the hook.
  • Medium speeds (4-5) are useful for mixing batter until smooth or to ensure all dry ingredients are well mixed. Use them when the recipe calls for mixing or beating.
  • Medium-high speeds (6-7) are used when the recipe calls for whipping or creaming. Cake and other batters are usually finished at this speed after starting at a slower speed.
  • The high speeds (8-10) allow to incorporate a large amount of air. Ideally this would be used to whip eggs or cream, or to create a fluffier mixture, such as a boiled glaze. Whip attachments are most effective at these speeds.

STEP 6: MONITORING THE MIXING PROCESS

A KitchenAid® Stand Mixer should always be watched by an adult while it is in operation. While mixers are hands-free, you need to keep an eye on them to make sure you're mixing to the right consistency.

DICA PRO

Make sure not to over beat or mix! Over-mixing the cake batter will result in a dense, flat cake because there are many gluten strands in the batter created by the mixer.

NOTE: Do not scrape bowl while mixer is running. Turn off mixer before scraping. To reduce the need for scraping, use aflex edge beater🇧🇷 These are designed with a flexible edge, allowing them to completely scrape the ingredients into the bowl while mixing.

STEP 7: REMOVE THE MIXTURE, BOWL AND ACCESSORIES

Once you've completed your task, it's time to transfer your mixture to the next step in the recipe or enjoy the meal you just made.

To remove the bowl on a tilt-head mixer:

  1. Turn speed control off and unplug mixer.
  2. Slide the lever to the unlock position and tilt the mixer head back.
  3. Remove flat beater, wire whisk, or dough hook by pushing up, turning clockwise, and pulling down.
  4. Turn the bowl counterclockwise until you feel it come off the bowl mounting plate.

To remove the bowl on a bowl mixer:

  1. Make sure speed control is OFF and mixer is unplugged.
  2. Rotate the bowl lift handle to the down position.
  3. Remove flat beater, wire whisk, or dough hook by pushing up, turning clockwise, and pulling down.
  4. Grasp the bowl handle and lift it up and out of the locating pins.

STEP 8: CLEAN YOUR MIXER

Then you can start cleaning the mixer. There are several dishwasher-safe bowls and accessories available to simplify this process.

  1. Before you start cleaning, unplug the mixer.
  2. The coated flat beater, dough hook, and mixing bowl can be washed in an automatic dishwasher or washed in hot, soapy water. All wire harnesses should be hand washed and dried immediately. Dishwashers should not be used for these items.
  3. Wipe the stand mixer with a warm, damp cloth. Never use household or commercial cleaners. Clean the head, shaft and base of the mixer. Do not immerse in water or allow water to enter gears, vent ports, or openings of any kind.
  4. Be sure to completely dry the stand mixer, bowl, attachments, and accessories before storing.

STEP 9: PROPERLY STORE YOUR BLENDER

Keep your KitchenAid® Stand Mixer on the counter to show off your style in your home.favorite color🇧🇷 use ourcustomization toolto personalize your mixer with your favorite color, bowl design, and a free engraving to add a countertop statement that's all about you. Plus, your mixer is always within reach when you need it. Just about any kitchen cabinet can fit in these units, since they only take up about a foot of counter space.

If you don't have counter space, store your stand mixer in a tall cabinet or pantry. Make sure the shelf is strong enough to support your weight.
